The cause of the problem could be the energy-saving option for the Bluetooth adapter or the mouse. For energy saving purpose, Windows switches off the internal Bluetooth adapter when the mouse is not being used for a short while.
This setting can be changed on Windows 10 (version 1709, 1803) as follows:
1. Open Bluetooth settings (select Start > Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & Other Devices.)
2. Select More Bluetooth options to find more Bluetooth settings.
3. In the opening pop-up, select the Hardware tab.
4. Under Intel (R) Wireless Bluetooth (R) Adapter and click Properties below.
5. In the pop-up window, click Change Settings.
6. In the pop-up window, select Power Management tab.
7. “Allow the computer to turn of this device to save power”
